I caught a mouse last night.
I’ve been reading a long profile of the late Toni Morrison in The New Yorker (“Ghosts in the House,” Oct 27, 2003). In it she recalled her family’s instinctive and deep-seated mistrust of white people. Morrison’s memory struck a chord, because I’ve only recently come to appreciate the extent to which I share it.
The media isn’t going to change. Critical thinking skills are more important than ever. If your first thought is “good luck with that,” I’m with you, baby. We’re doomed. Got any donuts?
Thank goodness for books and streaming TV, because this week will be one long Trump rally.
There’s no way I’d eat at a buffet or salad and soup bar now, commercial or homegrown. And I seriously doubt I’ll ever be able to bring myself to do so again even if there’s a vaccine (especially with the number of people who swear they won’t take it), which basically means never again.
Been wondering when I’ll put on a pair again. Trousers, I mean.
