Barrett-Jackson 2019
I’m not so into muscle cars. I like the old stuff, the real classics, along with oddball mini- and micro-cars, cars of the orphan brands that died out in the 1950s, and motorcycles.

I’m not so into muscle cars. I like the old stuff, the real classics, along with oddball mini- and micro-cars, cars of the orphan brands that died out in the 1950s, and motorcycles.
Worst are the clumps of old coots who insist on standing right in front of this or that car while swapping long stories about the days when they drove similar ones … look, Nostalgia Man, every swinging dick in his 70s drove a 1950s car back in the day.
A couple of firsts this year: one, Donna came along (and on the motorcycle yet); two, my first-ever Twitter meetup. My favorite thing about this car show, held every January on the golf course at Tubac, Arizona, is parking my motorcycle on the green next to the first row of show cars. Cagers (car drivers) have […]

The season kicked off yesterday with the annual Tucson Classics Car Show at the Gregory School. Next up: the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale and the Collector Car Show on the golf course […]

I drove this year, chauffeuring my friends Chip and Ed, along with Ed’s visiting sister Davida. By taking advantage of […]
Last Saturday I rode the motorcycle over to the Gregory School for the annual Tucson Classics Car Show. I go every year, making sure to get there before the day heats up and the crowds descend. The Gregory School is one of Tucson’s prettiest campuses, a pleasant venue for an outdoor car show. It used […]
Yesterday I drove to Scottsdale with three friends (Ed, Chip, and Loren) for the annual Barrett-Jackson auto auction. My friend Dick Herman, who lives near Sacramento, California, was also there. We set up a rendezvous by the food stands and spent about an hour together, making plans for future visits back & forth. In the […]
The annual Tucson Classics Car Show was Saturday, held on the grounds of St. Gregory’s Academy. It’s one of two local car shows I try never to miss (the other one’s in January, on the golf course at Tubac, a resort town south of Tucson). The Gregory School (as it is now known) is an […]
