It’s my birthday. This one’s a millstone milestone: the big 65. When I was a child, I looked up Halley’s Comet in the encyclopedia and figured out that I would be 40 when it came again in 1986 … unimaginably far in the future, and thinking of myself as a 40-year-old man was equally unimaginable (my own father wasn’t 40 yet). Now, sadly, I can well imagine being older … though I’m pretty damn sure I won’t be around for the comet’s next visit in 2061.
To cheer me up, my 65-year-old wife (who deals with these things far better than me) got me an iPad. I’m in the throes of setting it up. While I’m scratching my head over all the Apple/Microsoft differences, our houseguests … our goddaughter Natasha, her husband Natale, and their new baby Giorgianna … are making the most of a quiet day after our three-day road trip to Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, and Sedona.
On to the photoblogging:
By the way, Schatzi was my birthday present six years ago. iPad notwithstanding, she was the best birthday present ever!
Gee, I wonder if there’s a Medicare app for the iPad….
