Here’s the latest: I wore a heart monitor for a month. Two days ago the cardiologist called with the results: the monitor picked up occasional extra beats in both the upper and lower chambers, nothing unusual for a person my age (75). He scheduled me for a followup EKG in November. That’s what the cardiologist said. Good news, no?
What he didn’t say: that I can quit taking the heart meds I’ve been on for the past few months. I take the combination of what my cardiologist did and didn’t say to mean there is a problem (maybe not a big one, but still) and I need to continue taking meds to keep it under control.
I can live with that … metaphorically and literally.
