I never thought I’d thank a member of the GOP for anything, but I owe House Republicans* a high five for shooting down the Wall Street Welfare Bill this morning. Oh, thanks also to the 95 House Democrats who voted no with them.
Of course this leaves us in a “now what?” situation. Maybe now our legislators can take a breather and consider my patented Stock Transaction Fee/American Permanent Fund plan. I’m sure that once they’ve thought about it they’ll see the beauty of it.
For now (speaking of “now what?”), I’m telling my financial manager to put what’s left of my fast-disappearing retirement nest egg into Campbell’s Soup stock. See you at the food bank, everyone!
* This does not mean I’ve renounced my vow never to vote for a Republican for anything ever again as long as I live I swear to God.
Update (10/5/08): Oh, never mind.
