I’ve said my piece on Gabrielle Giffords and the Tucson shootings. I’ve said what I believe to be true and laid out the things I’m going to do to help, in my small way, make my country a more civil place. I’ll be watching the Tucson memorial service on TV tonight; with President Obama and a full slate of famous news anchors in town it’s better to just stay out of the way.
The little photo insert on the left is of Gabrielle’s husband, Mark Kelly, holding her hand in the hospital. I hope Gabby knows we’re all holding her hand right now.
Paul,
We are still living with a deficit of answers, which creates anxiety. Slowly but surely, the dust is settling as we try to place this all in perspective. We have a long way to go, but last night, our president knocked it out of the ballpark. As you know, I am not an admirer of Barack Obama, but he may have given the best speech of his career. Now if only everyone out there will take a deep breath, step back and start listening.
That was my reaction too, Dick. If ever he needed to be presidential, it was last night, and he more than rose to the occasion.
