We’re having a family Fourth of July weekend. Our granddaughter Taylor has been here the last couple of weeks, and now the rest of her family – her father (our son) Gregory, her mother (our daughter in law) Beth, her brother (our grandson) Quentin – are here.
Our annual neighborhood parade is later this morning, followed by a community brunch. This evening we’re all going over to a friend’s house high in the foothills overlooking Tucson, from whose patio we’ll be able to watch every fireworks display at once (the gunfire won’t start until midnight; by then we’ll be safely home and in bed). Saturday morning we’re going to take as many of the gang as want to go for a Trail Trash bicycle ride, and I’ll spend the afternoon smoking ribs and chicken. I’ll keep the camera close by and post photos soon.
Unlike last year, we’re not all here. Our daughter Polly went to Tampa on business and won’t fly home to Phoenix until later today or tomorrow. She (and we) have old friends in Tampa, so she’s having a great time and that’s some consolation.
Let the patriotism begin!
Update: the parade!
