Wow, what an extraordinarily beautiful morning to wake up to! We have an east-facing sliding glass door in our bedroom. It has vertical blinds but we never close them at night, because we like to wake up to the dawn. I knew right away this morning was special — the light was different. When I opened my eyes, I ran to get the camera.
By the way, I’m learning Adobe Photoshop, but the photos aren’t enhanced or altered. I did use the auto-leveling feature and a sharpening filter, but that’s all. It really did look like that.
Well, it’s a good thing there’s a bounce in my step this morning, because I have to move all our furniture and stuff out from under the back patio. We had our house painted in 2006, but the paint on the patio is already flaking off. I called the painter and he agreed to redo the work at a minimal price (it’s about a year and a half out of warranty), so he’s going to be working out back today and tomorrow.
I took the new mountain bike out for a ten-mile spin yesterday, sort of a shakedown cruise. The bike shop hasn’t fitted it to me yet because they had to order a taller handlebar stem and it hasn’t arrived, so the bike is only roughly adjusted to me right now. You do know that when you buy an expensive bicycle they schedule a fitting, right? I love it — it’s the closest I’ll ever come to buying a suit on Savile Row!
Anyway, the first ride helped me determine what it needs. Definitely an upward adjustment on the handlebars, probably an inch and a half, and the quick-adjust clamp that holds the seat stem in place has a knob-like protrusion that digs into me when I coast with my left leg extended all the way down. Otherwise it’s perfect, and I know I’m going to love this bicycle.
Next project: adding some book and movie reviews to this blog — they’re piling up!
