On the Futility of Post-Retirement Christmas Letters

xmas letterI don’t mean this in any sort of down way, but I’m finally coming to realize that when you’re retired, with the kids grown and gone, settled down in the house you plan to stay in until they pry it from your cold dead fingers, there’s not a lot you can put into an annual Christmas letter that’s actual news.

Really.  With no career changes on the horizon, no plans to move, everything much the same as it was last year and the year before, what do you have?  Hi, we’re still alive and healthy, hope you have a great Christmas & Happy New Year too?

This year, it’s cards!  How liberating!

Update (12/17/09): Eh, not even cards, says my hard-hearted wife . . . our annual mass mailing’s devolved into an annual mass e-mailing!  Shoot, why don’t I just post holiday greetings to Facebook?  Hmmm . . . why not?
