Dear Paul’s Thing Readers,
Comments are open again, which means you can weigh in on posts here at Paul’s Thing without having to register and log in.
I started requiring commenters to register and log in a few years ago after comment spammers discovered this blog. That got rid of the spammers, but it discouraged discussion from real readers. I’ve installed some anti-spam plugins, which I hope will fend off most of the comment spam. If any gets through, I’ll manually delete it.
I don’t yet know how effective these plugins are. There’s a possibility they might block some of your comments, especially if you write about things like discount sunglasses or boner pills. Stay away from subjects like that and you should be fine!
I hope that opening them up again works out for you. I don’t comment when I have nothing to say, but I won’t register on 50,000 sites just to throw in my $0.02 when I do. 😉 I think most of us who blog like a little conversation about what we write.
In return for you opening up your comments, I’ve subscribed by mail, too!

test comment
I opened comments on all three of my blogs. As you can see, the first comment I got here is a legitimate one. The first comment I got on one of my other blogs was spam.
So, a small tweak to the process. Comments will now go to my email queue for moderation and approval. You’ll see your comment here when you post it, but it’ll say that it’s being held for moderation. As soon as I approve it, usually within 24 hours, it’ll appear to everyone.
I hate to do this, but comment spammers are a persistent lot, and I know you don’t want to see comment fields deluged with ads for Russian brides … or do you?
