This New York Times article is about Lake Powell, which has lost 60% of its water and shows no signs of getting wetter. The article talks of a long-term drought in the American West.
I’ve never been to Lake Powell, but I have been to Lake Mead. Several times. Most recently last weekend, when I drove from Tucson to Las Vegas to visit my son and his family. When I crested the hill on the Arizona side of the Hoover Dam, all I could see of Lake Mead were the canyon cliffs – the water was so low it wasn’t visible from the road winding down to the dam. I was – I am – shocked. And very worried.
