We watched The Da Vinci Code last night. They say the critics jeered and laughed at the film when it was shown at Cannes. Okay, maybe it wasn’t brilliant, but it was solid and entertaining. I didn’t hear anyone laughing.
Well, actually, I laughed, but just a little. And only at this one part (stop reading here if you don’t want to know the ending):
The climax of the movie comes when Tom Hanks realizes that Audrey Tautou is the direct descendent of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. As he stands by a fountain, stunned by the revelation, she approaches. And he says . . .
“Hey.”
Yeah, that’s probably what I’d say, too.
