I’ve been planning a motorcycle trip for two months, and tonight am on the eve of it.
There have been some inevitable last-minute changes. Originally I was going to ride from Tucson to Flagstaff via back roads, spend the night in Flag, then ride on to Vegas. But it’s snowing in Flagstaff, so I’m trailering the motorcycle instead. And since it no longer makes sense to go via Flagstaff (I didn’t want to drive on those beautiful mountain roads, I wanted to ride them), I canceled my reservation there and will drive straight from Tucson to Las Vegas.
Since I’m trailering, I can take more of Polly’s stuff up to her. The back of my car is stuffed with boxes. Apart from a bed and a gas grill we’re giving her, and which I don’t have room for this trip, that’s the last of her stuff, which means she’s officially grown up.
But back to the road trip. Tomorrow morning I’ll strap the motorcycle down on the trailer and drive to Vegas. While in Vegas I’ll be staying at Polly’s apartment. Of course I’ll be visiting the kids and grandkids, but mostly I’ll be away on day rides to Laughlin (the annual River Run is this weekend), Death Valley, maybe even Utah (depending on how energetic I feel). I’ll put the bike back on the trailer and drive home Tuesday.
So . . . I’m on the road, and will check in when I can.
