I started an informational web site for Hash House Harriers in 1995 and worked on it furiously for six years – it may as well have been a second full-time job. In 2001 a couple of friends offered to help with some of the load, and in 2003 several additional friends joined in. Not only did I get my life back, the site got better: a perfect world.
A perfect world for a while, anyway. A few co-editors recently left, and now I find myself spending too much time on the site again. Donna’s about to throw something sharp and jagged at me, and who can blame her? This morning I told my co-editors I’m really leaving, no kidding.
Hah! Wish it were that easy. But I have to try. If the new editors don’t share my commitment and the site shrinks back to just a couple of core functions, I’ve got to let that happen. If the site dies, I’ve got to let that happen. But it won’t be easy.
