It&#8217;s our way of marking the end of the work week, less stressful than\u00a0drinking and partying all night. Sometimes we&#8217;ll bring home takeout hot wings from Hooters or Buffalo Wild Wings, but they&#8217;re never as good as home-made. Honestly, the only reason we resort to takeout is that the task of making hot wings at home\u00a0seems intimidating, but last night, after Ditalini and Escargot\u00a0hid the car keys\u00a0and forced me to make\u00a0them\u00a0myself, I have to admit\u00a0they&#8217;re not really that much work\u00a0(except for cleanup, of course!), and the results\u00a0are more than worth the effort.<\/p>\n<p>This is my own recipe for buffalo wings. Over the years I&#8217;ve experimented with different ways of making them, but finally settled on this simple method. I&#8217;ve found that if you keep things simple, your wings will turn out fine every time!<br \/>\n<center><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2hqr3Sa\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48846884173_97526db1ea_c.jpg\" alt=\"fullsizeoutput_4339\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nCrouton&#8217;s Hot Party Wings<\/center><br \/>\n<div class=\"hrecipe h-recipe jetpack-recipe\" itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/Recipe\"><h3 class=\"p-name jetpack-recipe-title fn\" itemprop=\"name\">Crouton&#039;s Hot Party Wings<\/h3><ul class=\"jetpack-recipe-meta\"><li class=\"jetpack-recipe-servings p-yield yield\" itemprop=\"recipeYield\"><strong>Servings: <\/strong>4-8<\/li><li class=\"jetpack-recipe-time\">\n\t\t\t\t<time itemprop=\"totalTime\" datetime=\"P0DT1H0M0S\"><strong>Time:<\/strong> <span class=\"time\">1 hour<\/span><\/time>\n\t\t\t<\/li><li class=\"jetpack-recipe-difficulty\"><strong>Difficulty: <\/strong>medium<\/li><li class=\"jetpack-recipe-print\"><a href=\"#\">Print<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"jetpack-recipe-content\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 doz chicken wings<\/li>\n<li>1 12-oz bottle Texas Pete or Franks&#8217; Hot Sauce<\/li>\n<li>1 stick salted butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp red pepper flakes<\/li>\n<li>a few grindings of black pepper<\/li>\n<li>peanut oil<\/li>\n<li>Ranch or bleu cheese dressing<\/li>\n<li>celery &amp; carrot sticks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today, you can buy wings pre-cut into wings and drumettes, and no preparation other than rinsing is necessary. If using whole wings, cut tips off the wings and discard, then cut each wing at the joint. Rinse and let dry on paper towels.<\/p>\n<p>Prepare hot sauce by melting equal amounts of butter and hot sauce (1 stick butter, 1\/2 cup hot sauce) in a large metal bowl. Add a healthy pinch of red pepper flakes and a few grinds of pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Deep fry wings in peanut oil, six minutes per batch at 180\u00b0C\/360\u00b0F. Dump fried wings onto paper towels to soak up oil. Immerse each batch of wings in hot sauce and let sit for at least a minute (they longer they sit in the hot sauce, the hotter they&#8217;ll be &#8230; I give them two to three minutes). Remove wings from sauce with tongs, shake off excess sauce, place in a casserole dish.
