Over the past two weeks, I’ve had all the fear and anxiety I can handle.\u00a0 It’s time to seek a little comfort.<\/p>\n
We normally ride bicycles on Saturday morning with our Trail Trash<\/a> group.\u00a0 Today Donna stayed home, for the very good reason that there’s much to be done after last week’s California trip<\/a>.\u00a0 Other members bailed too, and only three of us hit the road, riding into the periphery of Hurricane Norbert, which is crossing into Mexico a little ways south of here.\u00a0 We started out in calm winds under dark overcast skies; after only four miles the wind started gusting strongly from all directions, along with rain, so we turned back.\u00a0 What was to have been a 25-mile training ride turned into an 8-mile scramble for cover.<\/p>\n By the time I got home the rain had stopped, so I mowed grass, cleaned up after the dog, vacuumed the pool, worked in the garage, and scouted trail for a hash I’m haring Sunday afternoon.\u00a0 I always feel uprooted after a trip; now I’m grounded again, and there’s comfort in that.\u00a0 In between chores I put on a pot of stew<\/a>, which is, at least for us, comfort food, especially on a dark, rainy, windy day.\u00a0 We’ll curl up in the family room tonight, dinner trays in laps, and watch a movie while we eat.<\/p>\n I hope investors, financiers, moguls, and CEOs the world over sit down to comforting bowls of stew tonight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Over the past two weeks, I’ve had all the fear and anxiety I can handle.\u00a0 It’s time to seek a little comfort.
