{"id":648,"date":"2008-09-29T15:11:34","date_gmt":"2008-09-29T22:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=648"},"modified":"2008-10-06T17:22:41","modified_gmt":"2008-10-07T00:22:41","slug":"a-well-earned-thank-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=648","title":{"rendered":"A Well-Earned Thank You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I never thought I&#8217;d thank a member of the GOP for anything, but I owe House Republicans* a high five for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/09\/30\/business\/30bailout.html?em\" target=\"_blank\">shooting down the Wall Street Welfare Bill<\/a> this morning.\u00a0 Oh, thanks also to the 95 House Democrats who voted no with them.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_667\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-667\" style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-667\" src=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/jumpyou.jpg\" alt=\"I can't believe anyone could misspell that . . .\" width=\"425\" height=\"283\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-667\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I can&#39;t believe anyone could misspell that . . .<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Of course this leaves us in a &#8220;now what?&#8221; situation.\u00a0 Maybe now our legislators can take a breather and consider my patented <a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=615\" target=\"_self\">Stock Transaction Fee\/American Permanent Fund plan<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure that once they&#8217;ve thought about it they&#8217;ll see the beauty of it.<\/p>\n<p>For now (speaking of &#8220;now what?&#8221;), I&#8217;m telling my financial manager to put what&#8217;s left of my fast-disappearing retirement nest egg into <a href=\"http:\/\/wonkette.com\/403133\/wonkette-canned-soup-index-wcsi-soars\" target=\"_blank\">Campbell&#8217;s Soup stock<\/a>.\u00a0 See you at the food bank, everyone!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">* This does <em>not<\/em> mean I&#8217;ve renounced my vow never to vote for a Republican for anything ever again as long as I live I swear to God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: red;\"><em>Update (10\/5\/08):<\/em><\/span> Oh, <a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=653\" target=\"_self\">never mind<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I never thought I&#8217;d thank a member of the GOP for anything, but I owe House Republicans* a high five for shooting down the Wall Street Welfare Bill this morning.\u00a0 Oh, thanks also to the 95 House Democrats who voted no with them.
