{"id":6002,"date":"2011-04-18T14:14:15","date_gmt":"2011-04-18T21:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=6002"},"modified":"2011-04-18T20:40:23","modified_gmt":"2011-04-19T03:40:23","slug":"im-wayne-carrinis-frenemy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=6002","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m Wayne Carini&#8217;s Frenemy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"130\" height=\"98\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6006\" style=\"margin: 10px; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 130px; height: 98px;\" title=\"love-hate\" src=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/love-hate.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>The other night I was watching a rerun of one of my favorite guy shows, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1357604\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chasing Classic Cars<\/a>.\u00a0 The host, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.garagejournal.com\/forum\/showthread.php?t=79187\" target=\"_blank\">Wayne Carrini<\/a>, was helping some dude put together a world-class collection of desirable high-dollar cars: a rare Ferrari, an Auburn boat-tailed Speedster, a Mercedes-Benz 300SL.\u00a0 Although the show didn&#8217;t divulge any biographical details, we in the TV audience saw quite a bit of Wayne&#8217;s client, a man who appeared to be in his early 50s &#8230; filthy rich, of course, and of the flaunting variety.<\/p>\n<p>I normally never think about the rich people behind the collector car hobby, but here one was, right in front of me.\u00a0 And it hit me that the dude I was watching on TV was probably one of those Wall Street hedge fund managers who, back in 2008, emptied out my 401K.\u00a0 Suddenly I had a whole new take on Chasing Classic Cars.<\/p>\n<p>Will I quit watching my favorite guy show?\u00a0 No, but from now on I&#8217;ll be taking vicarious pleasure every time Wayne lightens some rich jerk&#8217;s wallet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/yes.thatcan.be\/my\/next\/tweet\/\" target=\"_blank\">That Can Be My Next Tweet<\/a> analyzes past Twitter postings to predict your next one.\u00a0 Apparently only machine intelligence is involved.\u00a0 Here are some of the predictions for <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/paulwoodford\" target=\"_blank\">@paulwoodford<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get off of assholes, grassroots movements, socialism. Grandson in kit form, some assembly required.<\/li>\n<li>I know where he said by reading lips.
