Taylor wanted Donna to be part of the ceremony on Saturday the 18th, along with her fiancé Jordan’s grandmother, and it turned out I was to be part of it too, walking Taylor’s mother down the aisle. We should soon get some wedding photos and videos … for now I just want to share a couple of the shots I took during our visit.

That’s Millie opposite Donna, and Mary Anne opposite me. We’re at our hotel in Henderson, having a last meal before driving home the next morning. Taylor thoughtfully included Mary Anne and Millie on the invitation list, knowing what close friends we are; we drove to and from Nevada in Mary Anne’s car, picking up and later dropping off Millie in Phoenix, where she now lives.

That’s our son Gregory, grandson Quentin, daughter-in-law Beth, and the happy couple, Taylor and Jordan, taken the night before the wedding. Taylor is now Mrs. Tagorda.

Family and friends were well-represented … I think the guest list numbered about 120. The venue was in old downtown Henderson, a southern suburb of Las Vegas, a few miles from the madness of the Strip. On our side, there was us, the grandparents. Jordan’s family was there in strength and we met many of them for the first time … they’re from Hawaii, although like Jordan, many have resettled in Las Vegas. Jordan and Taylor met at work and have been an item for years. Now they’re Mister and Missus.

What’s next? Quentin graduates from the University of Nevada in January. That’ll be in Reno, a grueling two-day drive from Tucson, so if can go we may fly. We haven’t made plans yet, and probably need to do so soon.

p.s. I mentioned driving to and from Nevada in Mary Anne’s SUV. Here’s Donna taking a turn at the wheel, with a typical northern Arizona vista in the background.

We’re thinking about becoming a one-car family, Donna and I. Polly, who’s still under our roof until she saves enough to get into an apartment of her own, has a car, but it’s on it’s last legs and she may inherit Donna’s car when it’s no longer viable. That would leave us with our extended-cab pickup truck, which is fine for me but isn’t so great for Donna. My thought is to sell the truck and replace it with a fairly-new SUV. Mary Anne’s SUV is a Honda Passport and I was happy for the opportunity to check it out on an 800-mile round trip; sadly, the leg room I need in the driver’s seat just isn’t there and we’ll have to look for something larger. I’m thinking a Tahoe or a Yukon, if we can find an affordable one- or two-year-old with not too many miles on it.

p.p.s. Grandson Quentin’s birthday is in November, but since he was down from Reno for the wedding and wanted to borrow one of my watches to wear during the ceremony and reception, I decided to bring along the one he’d asked to borrow, along with a new one, and let him choose which watch he wanted, intending it to be a birthday gift.

He chose wisely, selecting the green San Martin, a watch I bought late last year and have worn only a dozen or so times. The black Seiko is brand new and I thought he might choose it instead, but he fell for the Rolex look-alike and now I have the black Seiko, which I was kind of lusting after myself. We’re both happy campers. You knew I’d turn this into a post about watches, didn’t you?

Stay fresh, Cheesebags!

Between the 17th and 19th of October, Donna and I were in Las Vegas for our granddaughter Taylor’s wedding.

[4432,18,2,1601,415
4827,2263,4826
post-36854","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-big-seiko","category-consumerism","category-personal","category-photoblogging","category-products","tag-personal-news","tag-roadtrip","tag-wedding
["GET
