Whaddya know?&#8221; What a nice thought for her to share on the eve of a very important day!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/2mNgE1q\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51719441256_a17568e0b3_c.jpg\" alt=\"Wiesbaden Altes Rathaus\" width=\"800\" height=\"563\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lovely old building is the Rathaus in Wiesbaden, where \u2014 56 years ago today \u2014 Donna and I were married.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"927_38373867345_6145_n\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/halfmind\/51718692912\/in\/dateposted-public\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51718692912_e08d608b80_n.jpg\" alt=\"927_38373867345_6145_n\" width=\"221\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a>We took our vows in a civil ceremony conducted by the German equivalent of a city clerk, my parents and three of my sisters as witnesses. When we emerged from the building, Donna still holding her flowers, three schoolboys walking by stopped and sang us a wedding toast, almost as if staged for a Hallmark movie but purely serendipitous.
