We visited Wiggles & Peanut at their home last week; yesterday they came to our house to meet Mister B. The couple who have them, Don & Beth, adopted them from the Pima Animal Care Center after their first human, a 90-year-old man, gave them up because he couldn’t care for them. Don & Beth raised and trained them, but they already had two other dogs and have been looking for a permanent home for the new girls.

The real test, of course, was how the new pups would get along with Mister B. Our old guy was chill, even when Peanut got her spit all over his favorite ball. The new dogs are already bonding with us; it’s as if they know this is their new home and we’re their new humans (Mister B was the same way when we first met him).

That’s Mister B, guarding what remains of his stash of toys after Peanut made off with his ball. Although I didn’t manage to get a photo of all three dogs together, we can really see the difference between standard and mini doxies: Mr. B, a small standard, has chunkier legs and paws than Wiggles & Peanut, who, though not much smaller overall, are more dainty. I doubt whether the pups see any difference, though.

We’re driving to Big Bear this week, taking Mister B with us to a lakeside cabin. We’ll be gone from Tuesday through Friday. Don & Beth are holding on to Wiggles & Peanut while we’re away; they’re bringing them to us next Saturday.

We were hoping we’d meet Don & Beth’s approval (not to mention Wiggles & Peanut’s) when we visited their house; their visit here yesterday, it seems, closed the deal. Beth called us afterward and said we’re a good fit, and we couldn’t be prouder. We agreed that we (Donna and I) would make a contribution to the Pima Animal Care Center.

Will Wiggles & Peanut’s current names survive the transition? We’ll see. More on that later.

[40,2
3210,3629,3628
post-29086","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-critters","category-personal","tag-dachshund-2","tag-pet_adoption","tag-teckel
["GET
