{"id":285,"date":"2007-11-21T09:05:21","date_gmt":"2007-11-21T16:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=285"},"modified":"2007-12-23T10:37:53","modified_gmt":"2007-12-23T17:37:53","slug":"pauls-pasta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=285","title":{"rendered":"Paul&#8217;s Pasta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is an original Paul Woodford recipe, and it&#8217;s the first time I&#8217;ve\u00a0written it down.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re still hungry after trying this, check out my <a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/hashblog\/?page_id=231\" title=\"Half-Mind Cookbook\">hash cookbook<\/a>\u00a0for more recipes.<\/p>\n<p>This is\u00a0a simple pasta dish that&#8217;s easy to make with around-the-house ingredients (well, our house anyway).\u00a0 Don&#8217;t be squeamish about\u00a0the anchovies . . . they add flavor to the dish,\u00a0but without the strong salty taste people associate with anchovies on pizza.\u00a0 You can make the sauce with or without tomatoes.\u00a0\u00a0If you want to make a fancier meal, serve it with salad on the side.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 T butter<\/li>\n<li>3 T olive oil<\/li>\n<li>4-5 garlic cloves, sliced thin<\/li>\n<li>1 can anchovies, drained<\/li>\n<li>pepper to taste<\/li>\n<li>fresh chopped parsley<\/li>\n<li>pasta (your choice)<\/li>\n<li>bread<\/li>\n<li>Parmesan cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Optional Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 15-oz can diced tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>pinch of basil<\/li>\n<li>pinch of oregano<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In medium frying pan, heat butter and olive oil.\u00a0 Add garlic and anchovies, saut\u00e9 lightly.\u00a0 Break up and mash\u00a0anchovies as they cook.\u00a0 When garlic and anchovies are ready, add pepper and parsley.\u00a0 Boil pasta in separate pot, drain.\u00a0 Return pasta to pot.\u00a0 Add the sauce and toss until the pasta is\u00a0coated.\u00a0 Serve with crusty French or sourdough bread and freshly-grated Parmesan.<\/p>\n<p>If you like your sauce red, simply add the optional ingredients after the garlic and anchovies are ready.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Donna and I have prepared this dish with all kinds of pasta.\u00a0 For some reason, it&#8217;s better with a chunkier pasta &#8211; we prefer penne or farfalle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an original Paul Woodford recipe, and it&#8217;s the first time I&#8217;ve\u00a0written it down.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re still hungry after trying this, check out my hash cookbook\u00a0for more recipes.
