{"id":23374,"date":"2019-01-22T10:06:36","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T17:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=23374"},"modified":"2019-01-22T10:23:19","modified_gmt":"2019-01-22T17:23:19","slug":"tuesday-bag-o-maga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=23374","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday Bag o&#8217; Asshattery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Phillips-web copy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/halfmind\/31898978657\/in\/dateposted-public\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4827\/31898978657_ec0f9d3ca7_m.jpg\" alt=\"Phillips-web copy\" width=\"240\" height=\"108\" \/><\/a>Lynch mobs rule on social media, Twitter especially, and I try\u00a0not to react to or comment on stories, photos, or videos of people being racist until the mob\u00a0moves on.<\/p>\n<p>I do believe my own eyes, though, and the MAGA hat and\u00a0smirk that teenager&#8217;s wearing put the lie to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/01\/21\/opinion\/covington-march-for-life.html\">both-sides spin<\/a> being\u00a0applied to the story of the Covington Catholic High School boys&#8217; confrontation with a Native American activist. No matter if this photo represents only part of the story of what happened in front of the Lincoln Memorial last weekend, it is what it is and nothing will change that.<\/p>\n<p>On the larger subject of MAGA hats\u00a0and what they represent, I&#8217;ll just say that every time I see someone wearing one I expect a young boy in a brown shirt to jump up on a beer garden table and start singing <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/FN7r0Rr1Qyc\">Tomorrow Belongs to Me<\/a>.
