gravy, and pumpkin pie were perfect.\u00a0 Darrell brought wine, Dee brought sauteed mustard\u00a0greens and a bread pudding.\u00a0 Someday it&#8217;ll probably make more sense to eat out for Thanksgiving, but I hope that day doesn&#8217;t\u00a0come anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>Note to dog owners: when smoking your turkey breast, don&#8217;t leave your charcoal bin and bucket of wood chips on the ground by the smoker.\u00a0 Dog rule: &#8220;If it&#8217;s on the ground, I get to eat it.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The menu: smoked turkey (with dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce), standing beef rib roast, mashed potatoes, salad,\u00a0mustard greens, bread pudding, pumpkin pie.\u00a0 All home made, of course.\u00a0 Our daughter Polly is here, and Dee and Darrell, friends, are coming over to eat with us.
