{"id":1729,"date":"2009-03-11T13:31:52","date_gmt":"2009-03-11T20:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=1729"},"modified":"2009-05-27T15:01:05","modified_gmt":"2009-05-27T22:01:05","slug":"note-to-our-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=1729","title":{"rendered":"Note to Our Friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since I&#8217;m blogging about domestic activities this morning, here&#8217;s the note I&#8217;m leaving for our friends Ed &amp; Gail, who&#8217;ll be watching our house and critters while we&#8217;re away:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I fed Schatzi &amp; Chewie this morning.<\/p>\n<p>I left Schatzi\u2019s food on the counter.\u00a0 The little scoop contains the right amount of dry food for her evening meal.\u00a0 She gets that much every morning and evening.\u00a0 If you feel merciful you can give her a couple of tablespoons of wet food from the can in the fridge with her evening meal, but cut the amount of dry food by half if you do.\u00a0 Dry food only in the morning, and it won\u2019t kill her to have dry food only in the evening too.<\/p>\n<p>Chewie\u2019s not on a diet, so just make sure she always has some dry food in her bowl by the microwave.\u00a0 I give her a couple of tablespoons of wet food when I give Schatzi her evening meal.\u00a0 The can\u2019s in the fridge.\u00a0 Both animals drink out of the water bowl on the floor, which I rinse out and refill every morning.<\/p>\n<p>Schatzi\u2019s harness &amp; leash are on the phone by the kitchen door.\u00a0 Her poop bags are on the counter by the microwave.\u00a0 Her treats are on the kitchen counter near the coffeepot.\u00a0 Her toys are everywhere, so be careful where you step.\u00a0 I look inside the pool pump enclosure every morning to check the traps behind the pool heater.\u00a0 If you catch a mouse, pack rat, or ground squirrel, you may turn it over to Schatzi.\u00a0 I put the trap on the ground by the flagstones near the hot tub, open the doors, and let Schatzi do her thing . . . she knows exactly what to do because she\u2019s a GOOD DOG!\u00a0 Afterward I pitch the little corpses over the fence.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, you ask, where are Chewie\u2019s treats &amp; toys &amp; mice?\u00a0 Fuck her.<\/p>\n<p>Ha ha, just kidding.\u00a0 Unfortunately I am not kidding about the hot tub being broken.\u00a0 I hoped Brian would be able to get to it before we left, but it doesn\u2019t look that that\u2019s going to happen, though he may come to fix it while we\u2019re gone.\u00a0 I hope he does.\u00a0 He also comes every Monday morning to service the pool, and lets himself in &amp; out of the back yard, so don\u2019t shoot.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to use our computers; just turn them off overnight.\u00a0 Call us if you can\u2019t remember how to play DVDs . . . it\u2019s complicated but I can talk you through it (provided you are slightly more patient than Donna, who\u2019ll be right up the creek, movie-wise, if I croak on her).<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t know how to work the new microwave either, so we left the instruction book out for you.\u00a0 Maybe you can check us out on it when we get back.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you so much for watching the critters, and for being such good friends!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since I&#8217;m blogging about domestic activities this morning, here&#8217;s the note I&#8217;m leaving for our friends Ed &amp; Gail, who&#8217;ll be watching our house and critters while we&#8217;re away: I fed Schatzi &amp; Chewie this morning.
