{"id":1682,"date":"2009-02-22T08:38:40","date_gmt":"2009-02-22T15:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2009-02-22T08:42:36","modified_gmt":"2009-02-22T15:42:36","slug":"day-trip-photoblogging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=1682","title":{"rendered":"Day Trip Photoblogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We drove to Phoenix with Darrell and Mary Anne yesterday for one of our semi-annual cultural outings.\u00a0 On past trips we&#8217;ve we&#8217;ve gawked at first ladies&#8217; gowns, renaissance masterpieces, contemporary photography, plasticized corpses, and relics of the Titanic.\u00a0 This time we beamed up to see a traveling Star Trek exhibit:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1685\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1685\" style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/transporter02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1685\" title=\"click for larger\" src=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/transporter02.jpg\" alt=\"Beaming up to Phoenix\" width=\"425\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1685\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mary Anne, Darrell, Donna, Paul<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Our friend Mary Anne, it turns out, is a devoted Trekkie.\u00a0 And a Klingon (who knew?):<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1686\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1686\" style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/maryanne04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1686\" title=\"click for larger\" src=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/maryanne04.jpg\" alt=\"Captain K'Mtar B'Elanna on the bridge\" width=\"425\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1686\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Captain K&#39;Mtar B&#39;Elanna on the bridge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After our journey to the far reaches of the galaxy we met our Phoenician (I love saying that) friend Lois in Scottsdale for lunch and cupcakes.\u00a0 Ah, Phoenix in February . . . mid-70s, sunny, light breezes . . . patio table weather:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1683\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1683\" style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/02-21-09_5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1683\" title=\"click for larger\" src=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/02-21-09_5.jpg\" alt=\"Mary Anne, Paul, Donna Darrell, Lois\" width=\"425\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1683\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lunch in Scottsdale (Lois on the right)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We ate at a restaurant in Scottsdale&#8217;s Fashion Square, a desert version of Rodeo Drive.\u00a0 After lunch we took a side trip to Sprinkles, a perpetually-mobbed cupcake boutique:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1684\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1684\" style=\"width: 425px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/02-21-09_6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1684\" title=\"click for larger\" src=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/02-21-09_6.jpg\" alt=\"At Sprinkles: Mary Anne, Darrell, Donna, Lois, Paul\" width=\"425\" height=\"567\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1684\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At the snooty cupcake store<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We capped off our day with a trip to Ikea, where every item in the inventory has a Swedish name.  The desk lamp I bought is called an Antifon.  I wanted a Fnoor but Donna didn&#8217;t like the color.
