A month ago, we started riding bicycles with a small group of friends. Each Saturday it’s up at 5:00am to brush, dress, fill water jugs, pump tires, load bikes, and drive to the starting point. We’re off by 6:00am, first for 8 miles, then 10, then 12, and this morning, 18. And we ain’t talkin’ flat – it’s plenty hilly here on the east side of town.<\/p>\n
This morning I had to dismount, halfway up the steepest hill I’ve encountered to date. Not a minute later two bicyclists passed, one saying to the other “There’s been lots of times I wanted to do that.”<\/p>\n
That. Will. Not. Happen. Again.<\/p>\n
When Donna and I met back at the start, she confessed to walking her bike up the same hill. And she’s as determined as I to pedal up it next weekend.<\/p>\n
Cue the Rocky theme, someone!<\/p>\n
p.s. This 6:00am thing is popping up way too often (see the entry below). What happened to sleeping in on holidays and weekends?
