Every year a local car club puts on a car show in Tubac, a resort community halfway between Nogales and Tucson.<\/p>\n

I started to aim my camera at hood ornaments and grills, as I did at the Barrett-Jackson auction<\/a> last week, but there were always people in the way, so I gave up and just walked around instead, enjoying the beautiful day.\u00a0 I did get a nice shot of this Indian Four, though:<\/p>\n

The best part of the day was getting there and back.\u00a0 I went with my motorcycling buddy Ed in his 1941 Ford pickup.\u00a0 When you’re riding in a vehicle like that you’re a one-car parade, and we turned heads all the way down and all the way back, chugging along at a steady 45 mph.\u00a0 Here’s Ed and his ’41, with two other friends who met us at car show:<\/p>\n

Tell you what, though . . . as beautiful as those old cars are to look at, I was happy to slide back into the driver’s seat of my Trailblazer at the end of the day.\u00a0 Legroom, comfort, silence . . . cars have come a long way since the 1940s, and I suspect I’d feel the same way about my Honda Goldwing after a long ride on that beautiful old Indian Four.\u00a0 Well, here’s to old cars and bikes, and how far we’ve come!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
