I&#8217;ve blogged about such censorship before, <a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=154\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=150\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/pwoodford.net\/blog\/?p=153\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And now, thanks to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ericumansky.com\/2004\/09\/pentagon_acknow.html\">Eric Umansky<\/a>, I learn of another category of web sites being blocked or filtered on military networks. A category that brings up the following message on our troops&#8217; monitors:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><center>Access Denied (content_filter_denied)<br \/>\nYour request was denied because<br \/>\nof its content categorization:<br \/>\n&#8220;Extreme;Politics\/Religion&#8221;<\/center><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No, these are not the web sites of religious or political extremists. These are sites that list <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/icasualties.org\/oif\/\">military casualty figures for Iraq<\/a>. Sites that post casualty figures released by the Pentagon. You got it. The military now prevents its personnel from viewing information it releases to the general public.<\/p>\n<p>This is beginning to become amusing.
