The article talks of a long-term drought in the American West.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve never been to Lake Powell, but I have been to Lake Mead. Several times. Most recently last weekend, when I drove from Tucson to Las Vegas to visit my son and his family. When I crested the hill on the Arizona side of the Hoover Dam, all I could see of Lake Mead were the canyon cliffs &#8211; the water was so low it wasn&#8217;t visible from the road winding down to the dam. I was &#8211; I am &#8211; shocked.
