Anthrax Runs: Did I Get it Right, or What?
In a previous entry, blogging about the “mysterious white powder” prosecution of Connecticut hashers, I mentioned local hashers’ plans to organize a special hash in honor of the arrest, and made this prediction:
Knowing hashers, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it turn into an annual event and spread to other cities and states . . . maybe someday Anthrax Runs will displace Red Dress Runs (and as Stephen Colbert would say, “I have a copyright on that idea!”).
So much for my get-rich-quick copyright scheme! According to It’s Too Soft of the Chicago HHH, it’s been done:
Except that for us this is old hat as Chicago is doing our 6th Annual Great Chicago Anthrax Scare Hash/Santa Hat Run on Saturday, December 15. This has been kind of a fun theme hash but has started to gain significant momentum starting about three years ago we started running in poly coveralls for hazmat suits and last year in conjunction with Chicago’s 1469th run which coincidentally landed on the same day as 5th Antrhax we moved it to a Saturday so visitors could attend and had out of town hashers from six states and over 100 peeps. Chicago doesn’t do a red dress run so this has sort of become a de-facto flagship event for us.
Makes you proud to be a hasher, doesn’t it?
p.s. What’s a peep?
