Another One Bites the Dust
Another Pedalfiles Bike Hash, another casualty. This time it was Dirty Sanchez, who went down crossing trolley tracks and landed hard enough to separate his shoulder. Apart from the shoulder he’s basically okay, but he had skip on-afters in order to visit the emergency room.

Fig. 1: After the Fall
To date we’ve ridden eleven bike hash trails in Tucson. Three of those trails have been marred by serious spills, with Pedalfiles hashers hurting themselves badly enough that they had to get medical attention (one face plant was so bad we literally had to call an ambulance). Pedalfiles hashers have, in addition, taken several minor spills.
I’m forced to conclude that bike hashing is, pound for pound and injury for injury, the most dangerous form of hashing there is. Which doesn’t mean any of us are going to quit – it’s too much fun. I just hope I can remember to be careful, and I hope everyone else remembers too.
