Scouting (on Two Wheels)

My co-hare’s out of town for the holidays, but since we’re setting trail for the bike hash three weekends from now, I did some scouting on my own earlier today.  I tossed my bike in the back of the truck, drove to a bar that looked about right for a starting and ending venue, and took off, trusty bike trail map in my pocket.  Voila!  A 13-mile trail with another bar at the halfway point, perfect for a beer check.

Now all I have to do is talk my co-hare, a headstrong individual if ever there was one, into going along with the trail I scouted.  I won’t be surprised if we end up laying trail on the other side of town, but that’s cool, because I can always keep the trail I scouted today in my pocket.

Oh, and only one motorist tried to kill me.  After a loud exchange of Fuck Yous, we went our separate ways.  Call me superstitious, but I won’t be using that particular section of road again.  Fortunately, there’s a way to bypass it, and it’ll make for a better trail.

God, I love haring!  Why is it so hard to talk hashers into doing it?
