Scouting Trail

I scouted trail with two co-hares this morning, Her Majesty’s Ho and Satisfaction Guaranteed.  We’re haring the PISS Hash two Sundays from now.  This was our first walk-through, and it’s a good thing we did it, because a couple of places we hashed through on a similar trail in 2007 have since been fenced.

Important Trail Scouting Tip: look for small footprints and follow the tracks they make, because kids always know where the holes in fences are. Worked for us this morning!

Here we go, into the shiggy:

But all shiggy must end, and here we are emerging from it:

A somber reminder:

Ghost bicycle

The story on the ghost bicycle is that two young boys were run down by a drunk driver at that spot a couple of years ago.  The boys, by the way, were not riding in the bike lane, which you can see in the photo, but way over in the dirt where H.M. Ho and S.G. are standing.  The drunk, a middle-aged woman, killed one boy and injured the other.  Two weeks ago she was convicted of vehicular homicide and sentenced to 14 years.  It didn’t help her case that she showed up drunk at the trial.

Dear G, we beseech you to protect us from drivers.  I won’t say drunk drivers, because we must also beseech you to protect drunk hashers driving home after the hash, and forgive us our inconsistencies, amen!
