On a recent trip, I called up Crouton’s Kitchen on my Android. My site, formatted for desktop and laptop monitors, did it’s best to squeeze onto the cell phone’s miniature screen. The text was so tiny I couldn’t read a thing, and I vowed to work up a version for mobile devices as soon as I got home.
Now it’s done. If you access Crouton’s Kitchen on a Droid or iPhone, you’ll see a streamlined, downsized version designed for the small screen. Here’s what it’ll look like:
Left to right: the main page, with links to the most recent posts; scrolling down to see the search bar and links to static pages (like the recipe index); an individual recipe. Click on any thumbnail to see a larger version.
It’s automatic — you don’t have to do a thing. If you bookmark Crouton’s Kitchen on your PC, you’ll get the full-size version. If you bookmark it on your cell phone, you’ll get the downsized version.
Next time you’re on the road, please give it a try!
