What Goes Down Must Come Up

Another Saturday, another Trail Trash ride.  This time our daughter Polly joined us, so we celebrated by doubling our normal mileage (from 9 to 18).  Our new destination?  The Rincon General Store, down the hill on Old Spanish Trail.

As this entry’s title suggests, the return trip was mostly uphill, so we stopped at Saguaro Park East for a breather.

We had agreed to try a new place for our post-ride coffee and pastries, a French bakery (cue ominous music) owned by French people.  The lady behind the counter was almost comically rude . . . talk about confirmed stereotypes.  From now on we stick with our regular coffee shop.

Nor was there any rest for the wicked after our ride.  Donna, Polly, and I spent the rest of the afternoon emptying the garage and erecting shelving.  Today’s project?  Refilling the garage.

This last bit should be titled What Goes Up Must Come Down:

Before driving back to Phoenix, Polly asked me to install a larger RAM stick in her laptop.  I read the instructions and successfully located the RAM slot, but couldn’t get it to pivot up so that I could put the new stick in . . . at least not without forcing and possibly damaging it.  Polly left, RAM stick still uninstalled, faced with having to pay some techie in a computer store to do what I could not.

I’m at an age where there’s very little I can still teach my children.  There was a time when I knew everything and could fix anything.  Well, Donna never thought so, but the kids did.  Thank God for Schatzi!  As far as she’s concerned, I’m the man!
