Photoblogging Thanksgiving Dinner

The menu: smoked turkey (with dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce), standing beef rib roast, mashed potatoes, salad, mustard greens, bread pudding, pumpkin pie.  All home made, of course.  Our daughter Polly is here, and Dee and Darrell, friends, are coming over to eat with us.

Family, friends, food — it was all great.  The roast came out somewhere between rare and medium rare, the smoked turkey bordered on sublime.  Donna and Polly’s dressing, potatoes & gravy, and pumpkin pie were perfect.  Darrell brought wine, Dee brought sauteed mustard greens and a bread pudding.  Someday it’ll probably make more sense to eat out for Thanksgiving, but I hope that day doesn’t come anytime soon.

Note to dog owners: when smoking your turkey breast, don’t leave your charcoal bin and bucket of wood chips on the ground by the smoker.  Dog rule: “If it’s on the ground, I get to eat it.”
