Donna, one more thing, want to come up and help me organize the office (at least, my third of it) into a decent organized book store and the studio/guest room/ music closet into a place where I can write (yeah, right, at least nothing so far) into a place where you can actually walk around in it. Apparently, we've never quite finished unpacking.

Love,

Dear Donna (to be forwarded by your husband (BTW, what is your email address)). You can e-mail me at rwolfson@datastep.com.

Now, to the point. I am desperately, agonizingly covetous of your sewing room. I have, alas, merely a sewing closet. But I think you'll love the way it's organized. And if only I could stop people dumping stuff on it as they walk by.

It looks like you're using the same shelving system I've used (and reconfigured it about ten way for fifteen different uses, more or less). If I ever get my color laser filled with ink cartridges, I'm printing those pictures out and pinning them to my office module doors.

You must be so relieved to have it all at your fingertips. I did all the slipcovers, bedspread, and bed pillows, along with the window seat downstairs, on one machine, but now I've bought a variable speed machine for doing some couture sewing.

And why did you never tell me you sewed? You're practically the only person I know who sews. I think we need to go back to Home Econ courses that cover sewing from seat covers (big rectangles) through couture. To say nothing of cooking and cleaning. Apparently I was behind the door when the cleaning brains were handed out.

I am so proud of you. And so envious. I'll send you pictures when you can actually see the order behind the chaos. And then we put the dining table in storage so I could have a gym. Which is where I'm amount to go. Please send e-mail re sewing and such.

Deeply envious,
Robin

Gopher, pundits say this sort of thing is common whenever times are bad. They're probably right. And the Constitution, for all its vaunted protection of the rights of minorities, never stopped mobs from going after whoever they hate at any particular moment. It didn't help Japanese-Americans in WWII, and it won't help Hispanics or Muslims now. And gays? Katie bar the door! We need a massive WPA program to get people back to work. Then maybe all this crap will stop.

I continue to be amazed at the blatant disregard for The Constitution in this country. I see a lot of the "Mosquegate" here at work. Of course, in this business there ware plenty who share your RFFs points of view.
Funny, being the token Libertarian, I often get labeled the liberal of the bunch yet when surrounded by liberals...

These chuckle-heads screaming about mosques are as poorly informed as my sister screaming about NASCAR (I re-read your earlier post this morning - thanks for taking the time to post the dissenting opinion BTW.)

Funny how remarkably similar Judaism, Islam and Christianity are when you get right down to basics. All Abrahamic religions follow the same basic tenet, they've just morphed into various sects with over the years, their teachings twisted in an attempt to expand their power base and exert more control over the masses.

My Chaplain comes by for a coffee every Sunday morning (after services) and the discussion will occasionally cross over into the theological. I point out that the Almighty's message hasn't changed and it's still good. Religion on the other hand, is simply man's perversion of it.

Back to your RFFs and all things extreme. I think it comes down to simple ignorance. They've no knowledge of Islam (other than what they hear from Glen Beck) and react accordingly. Radical Jihadists have little or no knowledge of Christianity (most of them seem to have little knowledge of Islam also). Radical Republicans seem to have little knowledge of what's right and wrong, while radical Democrats can't seem to carry a thought all the way through to its logical conclusion.

So here's to finding a middle ground someplace.

And good luck avoiding those tacks!

I meant it, Dick. I would have been more effusive in my praise, but didn't want everyone to think I'm gay.

Paul,
Thanks for the kind words. My favorite book is "Crossing to Safety" by Wallace Stegner. You also might want to try "Angle of Repose."

Ann, thanks for the insight, and thanks for being such a good friend. I'm still giving Shatzi hugs (Donna too), and I'll add a few hugs in your name.

I think another name for what you're calling writer's block is, in this instance, just 'stress", maybe even PTS of a type.
Since my mom died last October I have been in a vague state of moping, I think - looking and sounding fine on the surface but just not seeming to get many productive things done.
Yesterday I actually thought I was "fine" - I even tried out the concept in my head, "I haven't got my mom anymore, for Mother's Day" and nothing happened - but then as soon as I tweeted my thoughts (about it being the first Mother's Day I wasn't sending a card (late as per usual) and planning to telephone on our Monday, the US Sunday) and ended with "I miss my Mom", I burst into tears.
Sometimes stress doesn't even turn up until 6 months, or a year, later. Or when an anniversary triggers it.
Anyway - hug your dog. (and your wife!). ;-)
