I apologize for the Paul’s Thing blackout yesterday. It was a bandwidth issue. Monday and Tuesday, there was a huge spike in bandwidth usage and pwoodford.net went down. I traced the problem to one of my other blogs, where there’s a large downloadable file someone or something was downloading over and over. Not sure if [...]  I decided to become a Daily Kos diarist (or, as my conservative friends will say, a minion of the Great Orange Satan). I started with a diary entry about the confiscation and banning of books in the Tucson Unified School District, put together from two recent posts here on Paul’s Thing (here and here).
Last week I got an urgent message from the fine folks at WordPress, telling me I needed to upgrade to the latest WP release lest a security flaw in the version I was currently using bite me in the ass. They sounded genuinely concerned, so I figured I’d better do it. I’ve never forgotten the [...] While I was off on my Gypsy Tour (about which I will soon be blogging), I checked out my blogs on my new Android cell phone. What I saw were two-inch by four-inch versions, so tiny you couldn’t read what was there . . . like looking through a telescope backwards. I decided to do [...] When you see one of these, you may as well give up: Yes, I was visited by the Blue Screen of Death earlier this week. My PC’s hard drive suddenly failed, and none of the files on it were recoverable. Fortunately, I still had all the original system CDs that came with my computer, [...] . . . and other things. I’ve been on my hands and knees in the back yard, pulling weeds. I’m reluctant to spray because the dog spends a lot of time out there. When it comes to the front yard, where the dog is not allowed, it’s going to be chemical warfare all the way. [...] This blog outgrew the WordPress default template it had been using, so I upgraded to a new one. Obviously, much has changed, but I think you’ll find the new blog easy to navigate and use. If you would like to comment or provide feedback on the new design, please leave a comment or contact me. [...] God, the things you have to do if you want to blog! When you first start, you think the blog program itself is enough for you. It formats your entries, automatically archives them, and allows readers to add comments. The package looks professional and slick . . . but it’s not really yours, is it? [...] |
